Title: Senior Engineering Technician

Job Summary:
Senior Level Certified Engineering Technician to prepare detailed construction engineering drawings used in the planning and construction of Civil Engineering Projects such as subdivisions, site plans, water and sanitary sewer layouts, streets and drainage systems.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Gather all necessary information to develop a final design.
  • Develop preliminary sketches or schematics, layouts, details and drawings.
  • Assist the Project Engineer in programming and scheduling the work, checking plans and inspecting the work.
  • Prepare complicated designs, drawings and layouts working from engineering specifications using computer-aided modeling drafting methods.
  • Calculate dimensions, weights, capacities, volumes or quantities by applying mathematical formulas.
  • Create drawings to assist engineers in developing civil engineering designs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to use computer-aided drafting AutoCAD, Microstation, Eaglepoint, and GeoPAC modeling design software.
  • Ability to use Word Processing and Spreadsheet software.
  • Ability to review and understand design specifications, engineering reports, maps, drawings, and blueprints.
  • Ability to draft detailed dimensional drawings, such as construction drawings, topographical profiles, and related maps and specifications utilized in the planning and construction of civil engineering projects.
  • Ability to perform advanced arithmetic operations, such as college algebra and trigonometry, quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to use a calculator quickly and accurately.
  • Able to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrate ability to work under stress to meet scheduled deadlines.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds is required.

Credentials and Experience

  • Technical Degree in Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum Five-year experience as a computer-aided drafter/designer or
  • Equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Special Requirements

  • Willing to work overtime, holidays, and weekends as requested by the Project Manager in order to meet Project deadlines.
