    Project Features

    This project included the reconstruction of 3.8 miles of Bentsen Road from a 20 feet wide rural highway section to a 65 feet wide urban major arterial roadway from U.S. Expressway 83 to FM495 (Pecan Avenue). Civil Engineering Services included an engineering study and report with special emphasis for storm drainage impacts to the Mission Lateral, Northwest McAllen Lateral and the Rado Drain. The Project required coordination efforts with Hidalgo County Irrigation District No. 1, Hidalgo County Drainage District No. 1, Texas Department of Transportation, Union Pacific Railroad, and other municipal and public utility companies. Services also included alignment studies, proposed right-of-way widths, typical roadway section designs, drainage design, surveying coordination, utility adjustments, culvert expansion at the Rado Drain and the preparation of plans, specifications and construction estimates (PS&E). The final Construction Cost for this work was under budget at $5.8 million dollars and completed in November 2007.
